BUYER COLLECTS VEHICLE |
1. Once Buyer and Seller has made a direct telephone call to Car Conveyancer to ensure that the money has been deposited with us and cleared, both parties will now proceed to handover and collect the vehicle. The handover and collection of the vehicle is governed by whether any optional services have been purchased.
Standard Procedure
2. This is where the Seller collects the vehicle himself.
3. Buyer and Seller must agree a mutual time and day to collect the vehicle at the Seller’s home address, preferably in daylight. Both Buyer and Seller are advised to make use of our Witness and Chauffer Service below at additional cost and to view our FAQ section for some safety advice.
4. Once a date and time has been agreed, BOTH Buyer and Seller must notify Car Conveyancer with the appointment details so that we can monitor the situation.
5. On the day of the collection, the Buyer must satisfy himself again about the vehicle he is buying and check and complete the paper-work.
6. Once both Buyer and Seller are happy, they should telephone Car Conveyancer to confirm the hand-over and collection. If either Buyer or Seller cannot speak to the appropriate legal advisor at the time (or the transaction takes place outside of normal office hours) a message can be left on Car Conveyancer’s call service.
7. If a direct call is made to a legal advisor of Car Conveyancer, you will be asked to confirm your security answers.
8. Both Buyer and Seller MUST then to follow up the call by confirming the collection/handover of the vehicle via email as an additional security measure.
9. IMPORTANT: BOTH BUYER AND SELLER MUST INFORM CAR CONVEYANCER OF THE HANDOVER AND COLLECTION OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE BUYER REFUSES OR FAILES TO INFORM CAR CONVEYANCER ON THE DAY OF THE PROPOSED COLLECTION OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SELLER CONFRIMS HE HAS HANDED OVER THE VEHICLE, IN THE ABSENCE OF INFORMATION TO THE CONTRARY FROM THE BUYER, THE MONEY HELD IN ESCROW ACCOUNT WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE SELLER.
Agent Witness, Chauffer and Verification Service.
1) We highly recommend that both Buyer and Seller use our Agent Witness, Chauffer and Verification Service. We provide the Buyer and Seller with an agent from Car Conveyancer to pick up the Buyer at his home address and to take him to the Seller's home address. Our agent will then over-see the hand-over of the vehicle to ensure everything goes as planned. For additional security, the agent will also obtain copies of the Buyer's and Seller's original identification papers such as passport, driving license and bank statement. As we pick up the Buyer at his home address this provides an added level of security for the Seller.
2) If this Service is agreed by the Buyer or Seller or both, Car Conveyancer will notify the parties of the availability dates and times of the agent to tie up with a convenient time and date for the handover and collection of the vehicle. Once agreed the Agent will then proceed as instructed and undertake the steps set out in 1) above.
3) Once the vehicle has been collected by the Buyer, Car Conveyancer will still recommend that both Buyer and Seller notify Car Conveyancer by phone and email. The agent will be there as an independent witness in any event to testify what went on between the parties as evidence which will be used in the unlikely event that there is a dispute between the parties. This evidence from the agent is vital to any action taken by an aggrieved party which is why we always recommend this service for genuine innocent parties. If the other party refuses, the recommending party should question if the purchase and sale should proceed. If in doubt walk away.
